Former St Kilda footballer and coach Grant Thomas has listed his $11m-$12m Cape Schanck getaway that fronts the internationally acclaimed National Golf Course.

Kicking off his career with the Saints in the VFL era, he played 72 matches with the side before brief stints at North Melbourne and Fitzroy.

The 2 Cape Court home in Cape Schanck was built about four years ago, and is set just off the 14th hole of the National’s Old Golf Course designed by renowned American course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr.

The home is believed to be the only one in the estate with scope for a tennis court.

The course hosts the PGA’s annual National Tournament, and with it’s popularity among Melbourne’s high flyers, it’s a destination for helicopter flights — providing scope to skip the traffic en route.

There is a also private beach a short golf cart ride from the home.

In the private National Estate, No. 2 Cape Court is one of the few properties flat enough for a tennis court — though it also includes a swimming pool and a practice bunker among its outdoor entertainment options.

Inside, the home has three of its five bedrooms on the ground floor, as well as a sprawling open-plan living zone that opens to a sheltered entertainment deck on its north side.

But life will centre on the upper level, where a second expansive living area with a gas fireplace is adjoined by a dining room and the kitchen — which includes an expansive, but concealed, butler’s pantry.
