Torquay home inspired by Lleyton Hewitt’s $5m Burleigh pad hits market

A touch of Gold Coast glamour has arrived on the Surf Coast where a Palm Springs-style home inspired by Lleyton and Bec Hewitt’s former pad has hit the market.
The actress and tennis legend’s luxury Burleigh Heads beach house went viral when they listed the $5m property for sale last year.
But several years earlier it had already caught the eye of Torquay’s Riley Pascoe who happened to walk past it while on a serendipitous Queensland holiday.

The night after being introduced to his now wife Steph through mutual friends, he took a photograph of the Hewitt’s house that would go on to shape the design of the couple’s first family home.
“There are lots of homes in that area that resemble that Palm Springs, Mediterranean, coastal blend – and Steph and I love all three – but that was the one that particularly caught my eye,” Riley said.
“I researched it, it had just been built at the time and then it sold to Lleyton and the amount of people that went through it.
“As a result we jumped on it and thought ‘let’s bring that down to Victoria’. You don’t see that too often down here.”

Two years after completing the build at 11 Wirilda St, Torquay, the couple are selling the custom, five-bedroom house for $1.59m to $1.69m through Natural Real Estate, Torquay agent Chris Henson.
Their facade bears a strong resemblance to The Palms in Burleigh Heads, with its curved walls, stonework, timber garage door, flat roof and signature palm trees.
Inside, you’ll find the same coastal timber vibe, crisp white walls and signature arched doorways, though the resort-style swimming pool is absent.
The couple flipped the layout, positioning the main living area and deck upstairs to capture ocean views.
“I’ll never forget the day we bought the block, we stood up on a couple of bricks up the back of the block and we could see a slither of water,” Mrs Pascoe said.
“Then we went upstairs and we could not believe we could see Sorrento and Point Lonsdale – the view is insane.”
