The Block 2025 Episode 8 recap: Alicia nears breaking point and the boys make a drunken blunder

Block stars’ huge blunder

The delays just keep on coming for Han and Can, although the next set weren’t the girls’ fault.

First a delivery of sub-floor tongue-and-groove arrived early while they were completing a challenge, and was left out in the rain for hours. It couldn’t be laid until it’s either dry or new boards were found, and there was hardly any supply in Victoria.

Then their tiler let them know he couldn’t work next week because he was getting married, and had been unable to find a replacement.

Forty plus phone calls later and they still hadn’t secured one.

It’s all getting to Can.

It was all getting to Can, who could see yet another incomplete room looming in her future.

And it was a room completion with very high stakes. Contestants were told that the winner of the week’s two kids’ rooms would not only get the usual $10,000, but $175,000 worth of high-end kitchen appliances too.

That was bad news for Robby and Mat. The first challenge of this season was designing and upholstering a bedhead which had to be used in one of this week’s rooms.

Unfortunately they chose their fabric while three sheets to the wind in a jacuzzi, and in the cold, sober light of day, they had severe fabric regret.

The dark, old-fashioned formal stripe united the rest of the contestants, hosts and judges.

The boys’ potentially $185,000-losing bedhead.

“Whose grandpa is sleeping in your kid’s room,” Taz asked, while Scott Cam suggested it would be at home in a Prohibition-era Chicago hotel room.

“What were we thinking,” Robby asked.

“We’re completely f***ed,” Mat agreed.

Sonny and Alicia were also on struggle street. After last week being forced to tear off, wash and replace the tiles in their bathroom, this week they’re ripping up a plywood sub-floor damaged by water from an epic storm.

Alicia crying to her mum in the car.

As Sonny furiously ripped it up, Alicia urged him to take a walk and calm down to no avail.

For those playing the Block drinking game, take a shot, because now it was time for this season’s first in-car weep, when Alicia heads off shopping and makes the mistake of

calling her mum.

“I just want to go home,” she told her. (Another shot!).
