Vendors Chris and Megan Leatham, grew up on the surrounding farms and built their dream home to raise their own family.

“Both being born in Yea, it has always felt like home. Chris grew up next door, and I grew up on the farm opposite – so the land along Carey Rd held a deep connection,” Megan says.

The couple bought the land in 2006 after it was subdivided by Chris’s father’s property and proceeded with the design and construction process.

“Chris began with a modest shed that he built, living there while he planted plane trees along the driveway, dreaming of what the site could become,” Megan says. “We knew we wanted our children to enjoy the same freedom and beauty that we did growing up: country life and fresh air.

“The north-facing aspect of the land was also a big draw – letting us capture light and take in stunning views toward the hills.”

“Aquacon Pools undertook much of the construction, and Chris finished off the detailing – embedding large boulders and shaping the edges himself,” Megan says.

“To add even more fun, Chris built a concrete waterslide on a steel frame – robust, slick and endlessly entertaining for both kids and adults. It’s been a crowd favourite ever since.”

“The big ideas were always: cathedral ceilings, spotted gum flooring, separate wings (a kids’ wing and a parents’ wing), and generous windows to look out and take in the landscape,” Megan says.
