Five major Perth developments greenlit by government funding

These new Perth apartment blocks have just received crucial funding intended to accelerate home construction across WA’s capital.

The Western Australian Government has revealed the latest round of funding recipients from its Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF), with 15 new projects poised to deliver over 1,200 new apartments across Perth.

An $80 million fund comprising three funding programs, the IDF aims to facilitate the development of new housing in Perth’s metro regions by offsetting the costs associated with infrastructure constraints.

These new projects will share up to $12 million under Stream 1, the Targeted Apartment Rebate program, to help deliver apartments across the Perth metropolitan area, near train stations and activity centres.

“Since it was launched, our government’s $80 million Infrastructure Development Fund has played a key role in accelerating housing supply in Western Australia,” WA planning and lands minister John Carey said.

“The funding assistance for upfront essential infrastructure costs is helping industry to unlock a pipeline of projects to deliver thousands of new apartments.”

These are the five biggest projects from the latest round of funding that will bring over 1000 new homes to WA’s capital.

Burswood Point – 51 Seabiscuit Drive, Burswood

Nestled along the banks of Perth’s Swan River and the Belmont Racecourse site sits Burswood Point by developer Golden Sedayu.

This project aims to be a “city within a city,” set against the backdrop of Perth’s renowned Optus Stadium and Crown Resort. Poised to transform the Burswood Peninsula precinct, it will introduce vibrant wining, dining, and shopping options.

Construction has already begun on Somerset Residences, a luxury development offering future residents  a choice of apartments and penthouses ranging from one- to four-bedrooms, with 456 residences in total.

The apartment designs feature high ceilings, sculleries in kitchens, engineered timber flooring and Gaggenau appliances.

Nearby, Perth Stadium train station is mere minutes away, promising a five-minute commute to Perth’s CBD.

6 Homelea Court, Rivervale

Finbar Group is taking on a new project within the Springs Precinct in Rivervale.

According to a January 2025 ASX announcement, the development is expected to be a 12-level building comprised of 171 one- and two-bedroom apartments on a 3,809sqm site.

According to the developer, 68% of the apartments will be one-bedroom units sized between 50 and 63sqm.

Residents will appreciate the proximity to the Swan River, Burswood train station, and Optus Stadium, which lies less than two kilometres away. Shortland Jones Park is also nearby, while bus connections are conveniently located on the Great Eastern Highway.

Amenities will include a gymnasium, residents lounge with kitchen and games room, outdoor BBQ facilities and a reflection garden.

The project marks Finbar’s fifth within the Springs precinct with it accompanying Spring View Towers, Arbor North, Riverena and The Point.

20 Linkage Avenue, Cockburn

Approximately 24km south of Perth’s CBD in Cockburn, SKS Group is spearheading a mixed-use development.

According to the developer, the nine-level building will consist of 243 build-to-rent apartments and six retail tenancies on a 4484sqm site.

Central to its appeal will be amenities such as a gym, cafes, and a landscaped outdoor terrace on the third level.

Conveniently located near Cockburn train station and Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre, future residents can expect a 17-minute train ride into the heart of Perth.

4 Waardong Court, Halls Head

Further south along the coastline, Yaran Property Group is preparing to develop a residential building in Halls Head, Mandurah, about an hour from Perth’s city centre.

This project is slated to deliver 76 apartments, all within walking distance of bus routes on Mandurah Road.

Nearby, future residents will have easy access to the Peel Inlet, Halls Head shopping centre and a short drive to the beach.

17-19 Almondbury Road & 3 Bragor Place, Ardross

Nine kilometres south of Perth, Scentre Group, which owns a variety of Westfield shopping centres, is set to deliver a new residential building directly next to its Westfield Booragoon Shopping Centre.

According to the plans, the project includes a seven-story apartment building with 57 units ranging from one- to four-bedroom apartments. Also planned are three two-story townhouses located on the northern section of the site.

The design incorporates a rooftop terrace, green spaces and is targeting a 5-star Green Star rating.

Apart from the shopping centre, future residents will also have easy access to Wireless Hill Park and walking distance to bus connections on Riseley Street and Coomoora Road.
