Spring has sprung and like many other Queenslanders Anita Bocquee and Terry Brouwers are listing their home for sale.

The couple are downsizing to the coast after 12 years of owning their West End character home.

Ms Bocquee said it just felt right to sell in spring.

“It gave us the whole of winter to get prepared, do the big de-clutter and get ready for all the buyers coming out of hibernation,” she said.

Ms Bocquee said spring was also the perfect season for showing off their home and neighbourhood.

“We have a beautiful frangipani that covers almost the whole backyard that starts growing leaves again in spring,” she said.

“And we have an outdoor bath and outdoor shower we can start using again.”

The couple have transformed the home at 63 Bristol St, West End, from a typical 1914 worker’s to a spacious family retreat since buying it.

“We did a massive renovation,” Ms Bocquee said.

“We lifted the cottage, built underneath and did a big extension up top.

“We built a whole studio downstairs and added bedrooms and bathrooms

“We also did this big entertainment area under the trees.”

The home has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, high ceilings, timber floors and a designer kitchen.

The outdoor entertaining features an outdoor kitchen and a stunning ceiling mural.

Ms Bocquee said the home was in a “gorgeous pocket of trees” that felt miles away from the city, despite being walking distance to shops, cafes and restaurants.

“It’s out little urban jungle,” she said.

“My favourite spot is definitely sitting on the back deck under the trees and looking out to all the greenery.”

Ms Bocquee said she and Mr Brouwers were moving to downsize.

“Our kids are between 19 and 25 and we only have one left at home,” she said.

“We don’t need a five-bedroom home and we don’t need to be in Brisbane anymore.

“But we wouldn’t selling if we were staying in Brisbane.

“The community is so great here in West End.

“We’re use to leaving our car in garage and walking everywhere and finding everything close by.

“I can walk down the street any day of the week and 20 people who say hello and have a quick chat.”
