Kelly Murphy knows what’s involved in designing and building a luxury home in Brisbane.

The mum-of-two and part‑time property developer recently completed her showstopper house ‘Riverton’ — a landmark riverfront home in Chelmer.

“It took three years from start to finish,” Ms Murphy said.

“It was a year for approvals and then the build.”

Mr Murphy recently put her home on the market with Matt Lancashire and Josh Brown of Ray White New Farm to try and take advantage of buyers wanting a turnkey luxury property.

“As someone who has built a house I know how time consuming it really is and I can see why buyers are desperate to buy a completed house,” Ms Murphy said.

“The market seems fairly buoyant for luxury homes in Brisbane at this point of time.”

Riverton is on a 1151sq m corner block.

Riverton was a collaboration between BBH Projects and Alexandra Buchanan Architects across a 1151sq m corner block at 37 Longman Terrace.

“I’ve deliberately designed this house for a family,” she said.

“I built it with everyone able to be together in the common areas but also having space as the children grow or if you have older kids.

“One of the things I was passionate about was making sure it flowed between the living and outdoor space.

“You can be cooking in the kitchen or entertaining and the children are in the pool in front of you.”

The property includes a tennis court, magnesium pool, outdoor kitchen, terrace and cabana.

Inside is five bedrooms, three bathrooms and several living zones.
