Award-winning Mount Martha home with bay views hits market

Only moments from Mount Martha’s Martha Cove, this designer-built and award-winning home – Design Matters Building 2018 Design of the Year – has been elevated to optimise shoreline and bay views from every part of the house.

The house was designed by Peter Harris, founder of boutique building and interior design studio Arki Design, with the build completed in 2017.

“It’s on a very steep block of land and it’s got a bay view, which we wanted to sort of capture from most rooms of the home,” Harris says.

These materials won’t date, Harris says, “so the home will still look good in the next 10, 20 years”.

“Upstairs, there are bi-fold doors that open up to the balcony, so it makes the living space and the balcony feel like one space.

“And then it’s got sliding doors to the outdoor alfresco area with a deck, barbecue area and a pool.

“So, you’ve basically got two outdoor areas you can use at the same time and entertain, which all open up to the lounge room.

“They all have a view of the water, even the pool, and they all flow.”

The Mount Martha location is appealing. “The beaches have beautiful water, nice sand, it’s got a small-town sort of vibe to it and isn’t as busy as some of the other towns along the Peninsula,” he says.
