A house being marketed as “maybe the cheapest home in southeast Queensland” has been listed for sale for $420,000 but there is a catch, a big one.

“No viewings in person allowed … selling as is where is conditions,” the listing says.

“Professional building and pest inspections recommended.”

The property has been dubbed “The Onion House”.

“It’s a bit like an ONION. Start peeling back the layers of aged building materials, you might cry or be super excited with the new aroma,” the listing says.

“It is not a project for the FAINT HEARTED.”

And the fabulously honest listing description by @realty agent Lyn Sills is not wrong.

On a 2024sq m block at 5 Richard St in Esk, the house is hidden among an abundance of vegetation.

Listing pictures show a delapidated house with what looks like moss growing on its exterior walls.

Inside, the kitchen has broken cabinets and questionable flooring.

The median house price in Esk is $580,000, according to the latest REA Market Trends report.

The median house price in Brisbane officially ticked over $1 million last month.

The latest PropTrack Home Price Index revealed that the Queensland capital’s median house price reached $1.015 million in June, an increase of $74,800 in the past 12 months.
