Why ‘move-in ready’ is the ultimate new-home solution

When it comes to buying a brand-new dream home, savvy buyers are taking a novel approach.

One in three home buyers in Australia are now choosing to purchase a brand-new home over an established property, and it’s easy to see why.

In New South Wales, exciting new neighbourhoods are popping up—especially in areas like Sydney’s Southwest and the Central Coast—that offer plenty of green space, beautiful streets, modern conveniences and the charm of a newly built home.

Despite the demand for new homes, however, the build journey is simply not for everyone.

Some are instead opting for turnkey homes which are brand new and ready to move in without the hassle of the construction journey.

Move-in ready, turnkey homes offer an alternate option to building a brand-new home.

New neighbourhoods to watch

According to Richard Baker, the Senior Designer and Planner for Special Projects at AVJennings, new communities are now offering more than ever before.

He says they range in block sizes, conveniences and amenities as well as housing styles to suit match buyers’ wants and needs.

“There is diversity in our communities,” he shares.

“Some have townhouses and detached houses, depending on what people are wanting.”

He adds that the masterplans focus on building welcoming neighbourhoods with plenty of green spaces, playgrounds, parks, and pedestrian-friendly areas.

“Arcadian Hills is one of the projects that’s been very successful,” he shares.

“We are about to complete that project after around 10 years.”

He also highlights Evergreen in the south-west Sydney suburb of Spring Farm, what he calls “the next generation” of AVJennings’ communities.

Evergreen boasts a smart and beautiful masterplan with a focus on community, but with plenty of space to give families what they need to relax or keep active.

On the Central Coast there’s Rosella Rise, which offers larger blocks and tree-lined streets and is well connected with a massive shopping centre and good schools close by, and the Warnervale Train Station within 500 meters.

AVJennings’ diverse and masterplanned neighbourhoods mean buyers have plenty of turnkey home options to choose from.

Beautiful, move-in ready homes

While buyers can snap up a plot of land in these neighbourhoods and build their dream home from scratch, Mr Baker said many people are now opting for the alternative route of a turnkey home.

“People have increasingly busy lives and they want something that’s finished that they can just move into and there’s nothing to do, and so it’s becoming increasingly appealing to the market,” he shares.

“We know that buyer preferences are different—four-bedroom, two-garage generally has broad appeal, though downsizers typically want something smaller with flexibility like an activity room where they might do sewing or other hobbies.”

Mr Baker says turnkey homes have been sprinkled throughout many AVJennings communities with a range of facades, colours, layouts and designs to ensure each feels unique.

“We believe in the aesthetic of streetscape, so there’s a mix, a nice balance, rather than just a monolithic housing type,” he says.

“We spend a lot of attention on making them ergonomically workable, so that they function well.”

Internally the fittings and fixtures are carefully planned by experts.

Even the landscaping is done down to the mailbox and water tank being installed.

Mr Baker adds that there’s also turnkey homes to match multigenerational families and townhouses for people wanting low maintenance.

Buyers can still select from a range of facades, layouts, and land sizes when opting for a turnkey home.

No surprises

One of the biggest draws of opting for a turnkey home is the peace of mind it provides.

“It’s assuring to a lot of buyers, that certainty around the turnkey properties that you know what you’re getting.

“You know how much it costs, and it’s complete. Of course, you have to furnish the house but that’s it.”

The homes are purchased with fixed price meaning buyers can avoid unexpected costs and construction delays.

The payment process is also straightforward.

Buyers only need to sign one contract, eliminating the need for progress payments throughout construction.

Plus, Mr Baker adds that the timeline is much faster compared to the contract building process with buyers often able to move in within weeks or months.
