The Block 2025: Everything we know so far about The Block Daylesford

The Block is back for another year, again showcasing regional Victoria – this time in the popular tree-change town of Daylesford.

Filming kicked off in early March and the contestants immediately made themselves known in town by participating in Daylesford’s annual ChillOut Festival and more recently by sourcing items in some of the many local homewares stores.

We’ll continue updating this story as we find out more about The Block Daylesford.

The Block 2025 will be in Daylesford

The Block 2025 is being built and filmed in the Victorian town of Daylesford, about and hour-and-a-half north west of Melbourne.

The site is at new housing development Hygge Property’s Middleton Field on the town’s east entry point, across from the popular Farmer’s Arms Hotel.

It is the second time the production attempted to film in Daylesford – last year’s season was moved to Phillip Island after a small but vocal minority of residents opposed the show coming to town.

This year though, locals have overwhelmingly embraced the cast and crew, with many business owners in particular in favour of the attention the show will put on the small tourist town.

Daylesford has a large LGBTQIA+ community, as well as a very active creative and artistic industry. The town is on the border of the famed Hepburn Springs spa region, and is a stone’s throw from wineries and regional parks and trails.

Who are the contestants?

The Block 2025 contestants are

  • Britt and Taz
  • Emma and Ben
  • Han and Can
  • Robby and Mat
  • Sonny and Alicia

The 2025 contestants made their debut to locals at the town’s annual ChillOut Festival parade – Australia’s largest and longest-running queer country pride festival – where they rode on floats they created for a challenge on the show.

When will the next season of The Block be on TV?

The first episode of The Block 2025 will air on July 27.

What’s new about The Block 2025?

There will be a few twists on The Block Daylesford.

1. The Blockheads will be building completely new homes

It is the first time The Block has built completely new homes within a brand new housing estate. The homes are set to be as sustainable as – though much larger than – the other homes planned for the Middleton Field development.

2. Every house will have the same floorplan

The teams will be competing on an even playing field, with each house having the same floor plan – it will be up to the contestants to put their own spin on the homes.

In the past, contestants have changed the floor plans designed for them by the show – so while all teams will have the same floor plan to start – it’s anyone’s guess what they will look like by the time the auction hammer drops.

3. It’s tools down every night and contestants will live in caravans

Rumour has it that there will be no all nighters this year with tools down every night and the site locked up.

However history has shown us the contestants sometimes flaunt the rules, so there’s every chance we could see a controversial break in.

While the site is locked up, the contestants will live in caravans.

4. Bunnings joins The Block

This year will also see The Block team up with Bunnings as a sponsor – ending its long-time partnership with rival hardware chain Mitre 10.

The rest of the Hygge Property’s Middleton Field development is yet to be built, leaving plenty of room for Sponsor Village.

Who are the judges this year?

Marty Fox is returning to The Block Daylesford for his second year as a judge.

Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer are also returning as judges.

Will foreman Keith return?

After stepping back from The Block Phillip Island due to the distance, fans were expecting foreman Keith to return in 2025, however it has been confirmed that Dan Reilly will continue as the sole Block foreman in Daylesford.

Will Adrian Portelli bid on The Block 2025?

One of The Block’s serial bidders ‘Lambo Guy’ Adrian Portelli has been a staple of the show’s auctions for the past three seasons. Last year he bought all five properties from the season in Phillip Island.

At the auction, Mr Portelli said 2024 would be his last year bidding on The Block – buying all five houses to “go out with a bang”.

Time will tell as to whether he sticks to his guns.

Without the competition from Mr Portelli, Danny Wallis may make a return after leaving empty handed for the past two years. However there are no guarantees, with the entrepreneur recently selling several of his investment properties.

Are there any Block babies this year?

Last year Haydn had to temporarily leave The Block during the second episode while his wife gave birth to their first child.

This year Scott Cam will become a grandfather mid-way through the season, with his son Charlie welcoming little Tiggy back in April.
