Sooshi Mango star Joe Salanitri and wife Georgina have sold their Mt Waverley house. They’re making the traditional Italian hand sign for “very good”.

Sooshi Mango comedian Joe Salanitri and his wife Georgina have sold their Mt Waverley family home for a grande $1.18m.

Along with his brother Carlo Salanitri and their friend Andrew Manfre, the comedy trio has become a household name across Australia thanks to their hilarious skits about the Italian and Greek way of life in the land down under, which have recorded millions of views online.

In addition, the three funnymen have performed in sold-out world tours, host the Saucy Meatballs podcast and have launched the popular Johnny, Vince, and Sam’s Ristorante in Lygon St.

Salanitri and Georgina have owned their three-bedroom unit at 1/50 Fairview Rd home for more than a decade.

Ray White Judd White’s Andrew Dimashki and Dexter Prack acted as an auctioneering duo when the residence went under the hammer on Saturday.

A $900,000 first bid kickstarted the entertaining auction.

“Who would not want to be part of comedy history? You can brag to your friends,” Mr Prack said.

At least four bidders competed for the keys with the home achieving a sold figure $80,000 above the $1.1m reserve.

The unit is in walking distance from Dampier Creek Reserve, Essex Heights Primary School and Mt Waverley Secondary College.

Salanitri said he was pretty calm before the auction but he “couldn’t believe” the final price.

Georgina added that she had felt nervous pre-auction because she did not want to let the unit go, for sentimental reasons including how much their family – including their two children- loved the area.

“But it was really nice to see it sell to a beautiful family with young children,” Georgina said.

The couple said their only reason for selling was because they needed more space including for all the costumes Salanitri has in storage to use in Sooshi Mango’s skits and shows.

The kitchen is fitted with stone benches, a 900mm Ilve oven and cooktop, LG dishwasher, soft-close cabinetry, a walk-in pantry and a breakfast bench.

“People think we’ve sold and are moving to Toorak, but we’re staying in Mt Waverley,” Salanitri joked.

He quipped that before moving to their new home, “I have got to make sure I take the cash I have buried in the backyard”.

And he has big plans for their new home: “I am going to concrete everything and stand out there and water the concrete at 6pm every night”.

Their family was also planning a post-auction celebration.

“Let’s go Johnny, Vince, and Sam’s to pop some champagne and have some gnocchi,” Salanitri said.

Mr Dimashki said 47 families have looked through the unit during the marketing campaign.

With this week being Melbourne’s busiest auction week since March 2024, Mr Dimashki said he hadn’t seen such a large amount of homes for sale since before the Covid pandemic.

His Ray White branch, based in Glen Waverley, has 91 auctions scheduled for November – a month when they would usually have 50 to 60 auctions slated.

“When the market starts moving up, the sellers get excited,” Mr Dimashki said.
