Vendors Prash and Victoria bought the property at 16 Rymill Rd in 2021 and are now selling to move on to another project.

They made the impressive home their own from the start, working with the builder to make some changes to the interior so it suited their family’s needs.

“I’ve got older parents in the UK, so we rejigged the bottom level so they could stay down there when they visit, and we put an outdoor kitchen outside, which was built by the people who built the kitchen at arkhe on The Parade,” Prash said.

“That kitchen really is my baby. It took me a few months to master how to manipulate fire on there, and that was part of the fun.

“Once a week I’ll fire it up and it becomes a bit of a social occasion where we’ll sit outside for hours.

“Just recently we had a 14-course tasting menu, where we selected really nice local ingredients, so it becomes quite an experience where everyone gathers out there for a few hours.

“The dads tend to gather around the fire and the kids will use the pool, and it brings everyone together really well.

“When we open up those doors we can have food going in and out of the house and that lovely island has been set up in such a way that you can have a meal around it, or use it as a plating station as part of a big walk through food fest when we have bigger groups here.”

The home, which was completed in December 2023, offers 331sqm of luxury living over its two levels and has four bedrooms – including a master suite with a walk-in robe and an ensuite with a bath and double shower – an open-plan kitchen, family and meals area and a double garage.

“Because we’ve got the raked ceiling at that end of the lounge you get the water reflecting into the house, and we had this beanbag we used to lie on and watch the light dance off the ceiling.”

Now moving on to another project, Prash says he and his family will miss the home, but he hopes its next owners love it, and Somerton Park, like they have.

“Somerton Park just offers a lovely lifestyle – still nice and close to the city, but just a little bit more south that it’s not super busy, and the beach down here is gorgeous,” he says.
