Scenic Rim estate offers unique chance for family-friendly tree change

As Australians continue to re-evaluate their lifestyle priorities, the tree-change trend shows no signs of slowing.

More buyers are ditching the stress of urban life in favour of fresh air, wide open spaces, and a closer connection to nature.

Using NAB customer data, research from the Regional Australia Institute shows that there are nearly 20% more city-dwellers relocating to regional areas than the pre-pandemic average and 1.8% more than during the height of the lockdowns.

Tapping into this trend, with their offering of acreage living meets modern convenience, QM Properties’ newest Scenic Rim estate, Harrisville Pastures, is seeing their 3,000sqm lots selling fast.

Situated in Queensland’s Scenic Rim, Harrisville Pastures is a new estate from QM Properties.

Designed to blend rural charm with modern convenience, Harrisville Pastures offers buyers a rare opportunity to enjoy a peaceful, community-oriented lifestyle with plenty of space at an affordable price.

“People are looking to escape the hustle and bustle,” explained QM Properties General Sales Manager, Damien Ross.

“They want space to build a shed, park the boat or caravan, and give their kids room to grow. You just can’t do that on a 400sqm block in the suburbs.”

Mr. Ross added that QM Properties, the largest acreage developer in Queensland, has a proven track record of delivering successful rural estates.

“We’ve created landmark projects like The Fairways and Jimboomba Woods. We focus on creating quality, low-density communities with real character.”

Big blocks, better value

Prices start at a competitive $450,000 with a selection of house and land packages to choose from that suit buyers with various budgets and lifestyles.

Harrisville Pastures presents a strong opportunity for buyers seeking more space at an affordable price than other surrounding towns, including Logan and Ipswich.

With larger blocks, residents at Harrisville Pastures can also embrace more flexible living arrangements, including multigenerational living with dual occupancy designs becoming increasingly popular according to Mr. Ross.

“We’re seeing families combine resources. Mum and Dad might live in a smaller home or granny flat, and the kids build a larger house – all on one big lot. It’s practical and brings families closer together,” he said.

The development also stands as a smart long-term investment with potential capital gains.

Mr. Ross said one of the key value propositions is land scarcity.

“There’s a very limited supply of acreage land left in South-East Queensland. Most new developments are high-density on small blocks. But here, all our lots are a minimum 3,000sqm. That’s incredibly rare, and it’s only going to become more valuable over time.”

Scenic Rim appeal

Surrounded by grazing land, rolling green hills, and a patchwork of charming townships, the Scenic Rim is fast becoming one of Queensland’s most sought-after regions for tree-changers.

And Harrisville, once a quiet farming town, is now experiencing a vibrant renewal.

“It’s got a really strong sense of history and community,” Mr. Ross said. “It’s not a place that’s been overdeveloped. People say hello to each other in the street. That kind of thing still matters to a lot of buyers.”

“There’s the pub on the corner, the general store, a little local school. Kids can walk home from school, and neighbours know each other. It’s got that close-knit feel people are looking for.”

While it has a peaceful rural atmosphere, Harrisville Pastures isn’t far from modern conveniences.

Further out in the townships of Boonah and Kalbar, there are a range of local specialty stores, schools, childcare centres, and medical facilities.

Major shopping destinations such as Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Kmart, specialty stores, and markets, are just 20 minutes away in Ipswich while Brisbane is an hour away.

Sustainability and thoughtful design

Far from being just another estate, Harrisville Pastures has been carefully planned to reflect and enhance its natural surroundings.

“We’ve retained trees and ecological corridors wherever possible,” Mr. Ross said.

“And we’re actually planting substantially more trees than were originally removed for development. We’re building pathways, improving street drainage, and ensuring everything integrates with the town.”

While the large lots mean formal parks aren’t needed, green corridors and landscaped zones will provide connectivity and habitat restoration.

“We’ve dedicated an environmental buffer zone to council, which includes koala habitat and native vegetation.

“All up, there will be a total 7000 new plantings across the development – including 800 trees – and that is before buyers landscape their own properties.

“It’s all about creating a greener, healthier place to live,” explained Mr. Ross.

Green spaces are a core part of Harrisville Pasture’s design, blending in with the natural surroundings.

Community, charm, and character

Mr. Ross said community has always been at the heart of Harrisville Pastures and can be seen throughout the other successful QM Properties developments.

“We’re not just building a development – we’re building a community,” said Mr. Ross.

“The vision is about bringing people together in a place that feels like home, where neighbours chat over fences and kids ride bikes in the street. That kind of lifestyle is getting harder to find.”

QM Properties has worked closely with the local council and community to ensure the development reflects the character of Harrisville.
