“It’s been there over 15 years and it’s a series of fully mature lily pillies, which through their seasonality turn a beautiful crimson,” he said.

“In the months where the foliage is heaviest they are kind of impenetrable, but through winter you do get little gaps that if you do get lost you can take a short cut and push through the hedge which can become handy.”

711 Federal Dr also has a dressage arena

The home has a range of equestrian features, with three paddocks, horse stables, tack room, dressage arena and round yard.

Adding to its retreat-like feel, there is a separate self-contained guest cottage.

Mr Lloyd said that the granny flat is effectively two apartments on top of one another.

“A self-contained apartment on the ground floor and another one upstairs,” he said.

“It’s ideal for visiting guests, in-laws or teenage children, there’s also the pool house as well which offers another breakaway space from the main living.”

Inside the main residence are high ceilings, a flowing layout and generous sized living, dining and entertainment spaces.

Outside is a treehouse, teepee, raised vegetable gardens and citrus orchard along with a swimming pool and steam room, plus pool side gazebo.

Mr Lloyd said that so far interest has come from outside of area buyers.

“We’ve had a lot of out of area interest, people looking for privacy, natural immersion, some people who ride horses and other people who don’t have equestrian requisites but appreciate the space around the property,” he said.

“Also people I think with a bit of a romantic idea of the type of property they want to live in, it is a very romantic property, it is historical, but it has a extensions to the an original footprint of the home that make it feel volumous and light and it has high ceilings.”

Outside you will find a pool and gazebo.

The maze sits in the backyard of the home.

Mr Lloyd said the gardens were charming. “They are seasonal and surrounded by some pecan trees which are deciduous,” he said.

“The leaves turn golden and into crimson as you come to autumn and in summer you have this wonderful canopoy of thick green foliage and pecan nuts. It’s beautiful.”

The property is a 25-minute drive to Byron Bay and Bangalow village. The price guide is $4.8 million.
