One of Hawkesbury River’s ‘finest’ homes to go under the hammer

A sprawling estate with old world charm and endless views of the Blue Mountains has been meticulously rebuilt from the ground up.

Sitting on a lush 2.59ha block in a tightly held pocket of Kurrajong, to the west of the Hawkesbury River, 53 Oswald Park Place has hit the market with a price guide of $5.5 million.

Sales agent Alastair Kivell from McGrath Hawkesbury said the vendors essentially recreated an entire new property in the last three years and have decided to sell to embark on their next project in the region.

“Essentially they’ve recreated an entirely new property,” he said.

“You’re in incredible company with homes that surrounds this, and even still, this is one of the more unique and special ones in the street as it sits on the high side, and you get a beautiful breeze out of the valley,” he said.

“The engineering work that went in in order to not have a beam in the lounge room at the back of the house – it’s one of the biggest open plan rooms I’ve ever seen.”

The sprawling estate is one of a handful in what Mr Kivell said is a well-regarded street, and the property is ideal for a family wanting a nice country retreat of ample size.

He said on average there was about one to two home sales in the pocket per year.

“It is undoubtedly one of Hawkesbury River’s finest residential properties. It’s one you could move in and have to do absolutely nothing,” he said.

The architect-designed home includes six bedrooms and four bathrooms, with a main wing comprising a couple’s retreat complete with an ensuite bathroom and dressing area, while four large bedrooms each have walk-in robes and high ceilings.

A large 5m long island bench takes centre stage of the gourmet kitchen, which also includes a butler’s pantry that opens to the alfresco area.

On the grounds of the property, there is beautiful landscaped gardens, a pool, a pavilion with a pizza oven, wine fridge, TV, and a fire pit.

There is also a detached studio that could be used for guest accommodation or a work from home  space.

The home is scheduled for auction on Saturday, 15 November.
