NRL Broncos star Billy Walters, son of Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters, is set for a massive payday as he steps in for injured five-eighth Ezra Mam.

The call-up comes as the injury-hit Broncos saw halfback Adam Reynolds and five-eighth Ezra Mam out with hamstring injuries, pushing Ben Hunt to halfback and Walters to the crucial five-eighth slot.

The shift comes just as Walters begins to ramp up his off-field goals, with the 31-year-old having invested a huge chunk of his hard-earned NRL contract funds into real estate since the pandemic.

That move is now set to pay off for him, with three properties across Brisbane since 2021 in Chermside West, Redbank Plains and Harristown – areas which have seen strong growth amid the Queensland property price boom.

Walters has decided to sell off the first of those – in Chermside West – via private treaty – with property estimates putting the market value at double what he paid four years ago.

Property records show Walters bought the property over four years ago in March 2021 with wife Rachel for $671,000.

Valuation estimates for the home now range from as conservative as $1.08m to as high as $1.32m given the massive surge in prices across Brisbane – which would just about double his money in four years.

Perfect for the next family and friends gathering.

His Chermside West house is for sale via private treaty.

Indoor-outdoor flow.

Walters has two other investment properties, one of which is rented at $440 a week in Redbank Plains and the other in Harristown, Toowoomba is rented at $450 a week.

His three bedroom, two bathroom house in Chermside West which is for sale is on a 602sq m block with details being handled by Tristan Rowland and Nick Cusick of Stone Real Estate- Aspley.

They described the property as having “Big Deck Energy” given its massive entertainer’s deck and large private yard.

Mr Rowland said it encapsulated “everything there is to love about our Queensland lifestyle, making it the perfect space to relax and unwind with family and friends”.

“This property is ideal for those seeking low-maintenance living with plenty of room to relax, entertain or add future value.”

“Opportunities like this don’t come along very often and will present the astute buyer with a solid family home to enjoy from day one,” his listing said.

The living zone is open plan.

The home has three bedrooms.

The property has an electric gate and a separate pedestrian gate to give multiple access to bike paths and walkways in the area.

The home is in the Craigslea State School and Craigslea State High School catchments with a bus stop 51m away, Huxtable Park and rainforest board walk 137m, Rode Road Marketplace 267m, Downfall Creek walking tracks 288m, Rode Road Dog Park 638m, The Prince Charles Hospital 989m and Westfield Chermside Shopping Centre 2.05km.

The property has a Goodwe solar system, airconditioning, a garden shed and is on a corner block close to bike paths, parks and shops.

Walters has the kitchen set up well with 20mm stone waterfall benchtops, Bosch four-burner gas cooktop and 600mm stainless-steel oven, a stainless-steel rangehood and dishwasher, stone splashback, and loads of bench and cupboard space.

The open plan living space is enhanced by pitched ceilings, and the space flows out to the large deck where he has ceiling fans and power points ready to set up the next barbecue.

The property has an electric gate and a secure compound with a separate pedestrian gate as well.
