NEXA Mortgage hires Eric Mitchell to help boost LO count

In its quest to bring its loan officer count up to 5,000, NEXA Mortgage announced Thursday that it has brought on Eric Mitchell to assist with its goal.

Mitchell will serve as a “key hire” recruiting partner for NEXA, newly appointed chief operating officer Jason duPont said in an interview with HousingWire.

“We have [an opportunity] where people can become executive partners, and all that means is they brought on a lot of recruits. There are actually five different levels, so he’s coming in at the bottom level, but we see a lot in him that he’ll be able to get to that executive partner pretty quickly, and we’re excited about that,” duPont said.

duPont also confirmed that Mitchell will not be originating any loans while at NEXA. Mitchell did not respond to HousingWire‘s request for comment.

Mitchell is also the CEO of Discount AI, an online mortgage brokerage powered by Client Direct Mortgage, per its website. He announced his decision to join NEXA through a LinkedIn post on Wednesday.

Mitchell’s hiring follows an announcement made on Tuesday at HousingWire’s AI Summit about a NEXA Mortgage and Tidalwave partnership that will give NEXA’s 3,200 brokers access to Tidalwave’s agentic AI technology platform.

Tidalwave — which integrates with Plaid, Argyle, Truv and ICE Mortgage Technology —automates income, employment and asset verification. As a result, Tidalwave said lenders have automated up to 70% of manual tasks, cut costs by as much as $1,500 per loan and freed loan officers from repetitive administrative work.

“We’re super excited about our agentic AI and bringing on Eric,” duPont said.
