The lifestyle attractions of a pocket of Highton were on display as four bidders contested a five-bedroom residence near Buckleys Falls.
In the end it fell to a Melbourne family to place with $1.305m winning bid for the property at 69 Buckley Falls Rd at Saturday’s auction, holding off interest from three Geelong bidders, including another two young families, Jellis Craig Geelong agent Jeff Begg said.
The distinguished five-bedroom house on a 893sq m corner property opposite riverside parkland will provide an ideal entry to Geelong for the family, who are moving to be close to Newtown’s prestigious private schools.
It had been listed with price hopes from $1.175m to $1.275m.

Mr Begg said the property drew more than 100 groups during the campaign.
“What we find in Buckley Falls Rd is it brings people in from all different suburbs because it’s a very exclusive are obviously close to the river and I have so many homes in Buckley Falls Rd over the years and they’ve always been really popular,” he said.
“And it’s still really close to Newtown. Effectively that’s why the buyer bought it. They’ve got young teenagers that are going to school.”
The custom-built house was completed 26 years ago and has remained home to the vendors every since.
“It’s very well maintained and just a really good, quality home,” Mr Begg said.
