For their alterations and additions project, they engaged Biotope Architecture and Interiors, led by director Rosa Douramanis.

Together, they worked on a design that would showcase how subtle, site-sensitive design can strengthen a home’s relationship to its extraordinary surroundings.

“We approached the project with restraint,” Douramanis said.

“It was about refining what was there — adding only what was needed, and making sure every intervention felt like it belonged.”

The project was completed in 2021 by Channel Construction, with the transformation building upon the original structure rather than replacing it.

New spaces were introduced that enhance liveability while maintaining deep respect for context.

There is so much to discover, with the design including a light-filled sunroom adjacent to the original dining and kitchen area; window seats that line the northern elevation, offering intimate moments to pause and absorb the expansive views; and a generous balcony that extends the living space outward.

There is a new main bedroom that provides privacy, complemented by two additional bedrooms and a study nook within the flowing single-level layout.

Oiled plywood-lined walls and ceilings introduce warmth and softness, while Tasmanian oak flooring maintains the minimalist aesthetic.

Fixtures and fittings were selected with sustainability in mind, contributing to a cohesive interior that feels calm, natural and timeless.

Ducted heating and cooling, creative lighting, underfloor heating, electric blinds and walls of custom storage enhance comfort and functionality.

Security and privacy are assured with a high electric gate and animal-proof fencing, while sustainability features include 16 SolarEdge solar panels.

A substantial powered farm shed and premium security system complete this sophisticated sanctuary.

Douramanis said every decision was made in close collaboration with the client, ensuring the alterations reflected their lifestyle and values.
