European summer on the Gold Coast

315 Monaco St, Broadbeach Waters is going under the hammer.

Named after the golden sunsets it enjoys all year round, an architect designed Broadbeach Waters home offers European-inspired elegance in an exclusive waterfront location.

Featuring classic lines and timeless feel, Casa Tramonto Dorato features five bedrooms, a swimming pool, and boat pontoon on a large 1770sq m waterfront block directly opposite Albert Park in sought after Broadbeach Waters.

The house has a European influence.

The home’s stately design is a far cry from what it looked like when owners Brent and Jo Churchill purchased the property back in 2009.

“The original home was an old Spanish hacienda on a large block with lots of trees,” Mrs Churchill said. “And it was the worst house on a great street.”

The Churchills lived in the previous residence for seven years before calling in architect Jared Poole to build a dream home worthy of its prestigious location in 2016.

“We lived in the old home while the children were little and it was beautiful but falling down,” Mrs Churchill said.

“We wanted a traditional large family home that kept a little of the Spanish influence, so we retained the curves in a nod to the previous house, and we wanted to keep as many of the existing trees as possible.”

Spanning two storeys, the residence features classic design elements including elegant archways, coffered ceilings, bespoke cabinetry, and timber flooring, while embracing its waterfront position with a series of balconies and entertaining spaces overlooking the river.

Three bedrooms plus an expansive master suite are located upstairs, while the ground level features a further two bedrooms and a focus on entertaining, and includes a kitchen with scullery, wine cellar and vast open plan living room, lounge, and dining area.

In prime position overlooking the river and swimming pool is the property’s centrepiece – a covered alfresco area complete with pizza oven, outdoor kitchen, fans, blinds, and heaters.

“The outdoor entertaining area is like having another room outside,” Mr Churchill said. “We’ll even sit out there when it’s raining with the blinds rolled down and the heaters on.”

Accented by two date palms that the Churchills brought into the property by boat, the yard offers a private oasis that’s ideal for relaxation and entertaining.

The residence has meticulous attention to detail throughout.

“We spend the whole time outside in the al fresco area, on the deck or sitting under the trees just watching the sunset,” Mrs Churchill said.

“We’ve had 300 people here for the kids’ pre-formal gathering, we’ve had all the big birthdays like 18ths and 21sts, and we even hosted a wedding here, and every Sunday we have a bit of a ritual where Brent makes his famous paella.”

Make a splash in the pool.

Located on a wide section of Main River, the property also boasts a pontoon, jet ski docks, a boat ramp, and a boat shed.

“There’s great access for jet skis and a boat so you can just take off up the river,” Mr Churchill said.

“And the original boat shed is fabulous. We have stand-up paddleboards and kayaks in there along with crab pots that you throw into the water.”

The study.

Meanwhile, the location offers easy access to Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise as well as a host of local amenities.

“There’s a coffee shop up the road and a gym, and the park is a big drawcard. We use it daily for exercise and dog walking,” Mrs Churchill said.

“It’s central but it’s so quiet living here.

“It’s the most wonderful street and community, and it feels like coming home to your own private oasis.”

The property goes to auction on July 20 via Kollosche ‘s Gypsea Youngsmith and Michael Kollosche.
