The price guide is $1.5m for the May 12 auction via David Medina of Sydney Sotherby’s.

Jamie Kwong is brother of renowned chef and author Kylie Kwong.

“It’s the most extraordinary lifestyle block that I’ve ever seen in 30 years of selling real estate .. I don’t think you’ll ever find another one and you could build something unbelievable there,” Medina said.

As Jamie told The Mercury recently: “The Headland is an old surfer’s cabin nestled in the forest above Roaring Beach on the southeast tip of Tasmania.

Bordered by towering sea cliffs, 200 acres of coastal reserve and only accessible via a 1.5km driveway through our own private forest, the only company we keep on The Headland is our own or that of the local native wildlife.”

They’d discovered The Headland after their first visit to Tasmania in 2017 for their 25th wedding anniversary.

“We decided to spend more time here and create a private escape for our family and friends,” he said.

The couple looked at more than 20 properties before they discovered The Headland.

There’s direct access to the beach via a secret track.

They looked at more than 20 properties, but as soon as they saw The Headland they knew it was the one.

“So many trees and animals, so much space and privacy. And so few distractions.”

They worked with their surfer neighbours to restore the old cabin, which had been hand-built by the original owner’s son and his surfer mates 30 years before.

‘The Headland’ now has a 1.5 km driveway winding through its own forest to a bespoke solar-powered day cabin among the trees.

There is direct beach access via a ‘secret’ track and the property is surrounded on three sides by conservation area and towering sea cliffs.

Full of charm.

Simple comforts are on offer.

Spanning eight hectares, ‘The Headland’ features many inspiring building sites where you can sit back and take in the breathtaking vistas over the surrounding hills and valleys, Roaring Beach, Storm Bay, Wedge Island, Bruny Island and beyond.

The property overlooks one of Tasmania’s most renowned surf beaches and is just a few headlands around from the world-famous big wave break, Shipstern Bluff.

Enjoy all the Tasman Peninsula has to offer all within a short drive from ‘The Headland’.

The attractions include oyster farms, wineries, distilleries and farmer’s markets through to historic sites, national parks and some of Tasmania’s best walks.

Not to mention picturesque beaches, bays and waterfalls, and the tallest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere.
