Cairns auction event proves the growing popularity of sales method

Ray White Cairns auction event

A recent auction event in Cairns has achieved a clearance rate of approximately 50 per cent, with several properties selling prior to the event.

Twenty-properties went under the hammer at the Ray White Cairns and Beaches auction extravaganza at the Pullman International Hotel on September 22.

Ray White Cairns director and principal Ray Murphy said that while the overall clearance rate was around 50 per cent, several properties sold before the auction.

“The auction featured 22 properties, attracting strong interest from buyers across the region,” Murphy said.

“A standout sale of the evening was 16 Ronto Close, Manoora, (which) ultimately sold well above the reserve price, with significant buyer interest throughout the event.

“Across the entire auction, approximately 200 spectators attended and 50 registered bidders participated, reflecting strong engagement in the Cairns market.”

Another notable sale was 21 Ayla Court, Edmonton, which attracted eight registered bidders and four active competitors.

“After 28 bids, the property sold under the hammer for $745,000 thanks to a campaign led by sales agent Sheldon Powe-Hobbs.”

Another strong sale was that of 20 Collinson Street in Westcourt.

Murphy said that strong competition in incremental bidding stages delivered an outstanding outcome, selling for $645,000.

The property was marketed by Natasha Whalley-Thompson.

“The auction highlighted the growing popularity of the auction method in Cairns, providing transparency for buyers and fostering a competitive environment for sellers,” Murphy said. Ray White Group chief auctioneer Gavin Croft wielded the hammer at the event.

“These results are a testament to the commitment, skill, and experience of our team,” Murphy added.

“Auctions continue to be a powerful method for delivering the best possible price under the best terms for our clients.”
