Burbank home’s guitar-shaped pool sparks social media debate

A Queensland property set to go under the hammer this Saturday is striking a chord with potential buyers, largely thanks to a rather unique backyard feature that has also sparked considerable chatter on social media.

Located at 200 Kloske Road, Burbank, the sprawling estate boasts a 25-metre lap pool, meticulously shaped like a guitar, complete with black tiles denoting frets along its neck.

The sales advertisement on realestate.com.au describes the aquatic marvel as a “stunning centrepiece for the property, blending fun, style, and individuality in a bushland setting.”

It further suggests that “whether for laps, leisure, or entertaining, this unique pool is guaranteed to impress.”

Indeed, it has certainly captured the imagination of many, with its distinctive design making it a genuine head-turner.

The pool was created by a music lover.

Its shape makes it ideal for lap swimming.

However, not everyone online is convinced the pool’s design is solely musical.

Social media users have been quick to offer their own interpretations, with comments on the brisbanehomeprices.com Facebook page raising eyebrows.

“Are you sure that’s a guitar?” one person queried, while another stated, “A guitar wasn’t what I thought of first.”

A third simply quipped, “Is it tho?,” subtly questioning the intended shape.

“Bit of a d**k move building a pool like that,” another said.

Despite the varied interpretations, the vendor’s passion for music is undeniable.

He can be seen playing a guitar solo in the property’s campaign video and personally installed the bespoke pool, ensuring its design paid homage to his love for the instrument.

This isn’t Australia’s first foray into guitar-shaped pools.

The country’s most famous example resides at a motel in Tamworth, New South Wales, originally opened by country music legend Slim Dusty in 1984.

While the Musicland Motel has since been rebranded, its iconic, Australian flag-tiled pool remains.

The home itself is spacious and ideally suited to family living.

The cosy main living space comes with a fire place.

Closer to home, residents of Gympie fondly recall a similar guitar-shaped pool that once graced the garden of a Spanish-style home, since demolished.

“I remember smiling at that pool every time I drove past it for years,” one local reminisced on a community Facebook group.

Beyond its captivating pool, the property at 200 Kloske Road offers a tranquil retreat.

The rustic-style, dual-level house sits on almost two hectares of tropical gardens and bushland, providing a sense of country living within striking distance of the city.

It features five bedrooms and three bathrooms, catering to families seeking ample space.

The interiors exude warmth and texture, with raw brick walls, soaring timber-lined ceilings, and a cosy wood-burning fireplace.

Most inquiries for the Burbank property have come from Brisbane families with two or three children, drawn to the expansive outdoor areas, including the tiered lawns, treetop views, and, of course, the distinctive pool.

The property is being offered for sale through Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty – Brisbane and will head to public auction this Saturday, without a listed price guide.

Regardless of what one perceives in its unique aquatic feature, this home promises a lifestyle that is anything but ordinary.
