Brisbane’s ‘Gucci Mansion’ is back on the market

29 Laidlaw Pde, East Brisbane

It’s a Brisbane home like no other – an opulent Italian style palazzo right on the waterfront that has come to be known as ‘the Gucci Mansion’ for its jaw-dropping interior and unapologetic embrace of the theatrical.

Positioned in a sought-after enclave of East Brisbane, the five-bedroom residence is the work of world-renowned designer Greg Natale and was built by CHS Building in 2020 with no expense spared on the property’s construction and design.

Inside, the home boasts marble floors, black fluted timber walls, a bespoke staircase, Gucci wallpaper, sculpted arches, and a brooding colour palette set against a view of Brisbane that’s among the best.

Lisette and Mark Seery purchased the lavish home in 2022 after being drawn to its eye-catching design.

“The original owners had finished the house just before Covid and it had never really been lived in, so it was pretty new, and it was different to absolutely everything else we had looked at,” Mr Seery said.

“From the outset, we were pretty hooked on it.”

Spanning three levels, the property includes a wellness centre with ice bath, sauna and steam room, a gym, yoga room, piano lounge, cocktail bar, lift, and a Mediterranean inspired al fresco entertaining terrace overlooking the pool and river.

On the central level, the kitchen features a butler’s pantry and adjoins an open plan lounge and dining area that also take in the sweeping river and city views.

When it comes to sleeping arrangements, each of the five bedrooms offers a different theme, with the master suite boasting Gucci wallpaper, a private balcony, a 10-metre-long walk-in robe, and a lounge with private fireplace.

“The view from the master bedroom at night is absolutely sensational,” Mr Seery said.

“You can lie in bed and look at the lights of the city and it feels like you could be in New York.”

Describing the residence as akin to ‘a work of art’, Mr Seery said the home would be sold fully furnished, with many of the items specifically handpicked for each room.

“Quite a few items are antiques,” Mr Seery said.

“It’s like living in another world. Every room is different and the attention to detail is incredible.

“The original owner was an artist from Florence so there’s a real European theme, where even the stonework was handpicked.

“The house itself is a work of art.”

Mr Seery said the home was perfect for entertaining courtesy of the state-of-the-art kitchen, formal and informal dining spaces, cocktail bar and the alfresco terrace complete with barbecue and outdoor kitchen.

“The kitchen has five ovens, so it’s designed for entertaining, and you can host a catered event here out the back at night with the lights and the city, which is just an unbelievable backdrop.”

The property comes complete with a theatre room, double garage, an extra garage space with double car stacker, and 15m of river frontage

“To have a car stacker and be able to accommodate four cars is a great thing,” Mr Seery said.

Despite the property’s opulence and limitless design budget, Mr Seery said the residence also boasted a ‘great vibe’ and homely feel.

“It’s an unbelievable place to live,” he said.

“We have three kids and a couple of grandchildren and it’s a brilliant place for family to come and enjoy.”

The opulent Italian-style palazzo is located at 29 Laidlaw Pde, East Brisbane.

Currently on the market with Matt Lancashire of Ray White New Farm, it is for sale by expression of interest.
