Brad Pitt’s $8.4m mansion ‘ransacked’ by burglars

Brad Pitt’s Los Angeles home was burglarised last week while the actor was travelling abroad to promote his latest movie, as neighbours begin to draw on what may have really happened.

A police investigation is underway after the Oscar-winner’s $US5.5 million ($A8.4 million) mansion was targeted by thieves, Page Six reports.

It is now emerging that Pitt’s “absent security” was to blame for the incident, which left a “huge mess.”

“Ever since Mr Pitt moved in two years ago, there has always been a security car in the street, day and night,” a neighbour told the Daily Mail.

“It suddenly disappeared a few days before the burglary, but we have no idea why.”

At the time, an LAPD spokesperson told the outlet that a house in the Los Feliz neighbourhood was “ransacked” at 10:30pm on Wednesday evening (local time), though they did not confirm the owner or residents of the property.

According to police, three suspects scaled a fence and broke in through a front window before fleeing with an unknown amount of items.

Pitt, 61, is on the “F1” press tour and has hit the red carpet for premieres in London, Mexico, and New York in recent weeks.

The “Oceans Eleven” star purchased the property in April 2023 from oil heiress Aileen Getty, according to Daily Mail.

In a star-studded swap, Getty then purchased Pitt’s previous home in the same neighbourhood for a whopping $US33 million ($A50.5 million).

Dubbed “The Steel House”, the L-shaped estate — is outfitted with solar panels, an expansive outdoor pool and a built-in sauna, among other luxuries.

It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and just over 2,000 square feet of living space, surrounded by lush greenery.

Pitt’s ex-wife Angelina Jolie also resides in the Los Feliz neighbourhood where their children are frequently seen stepping out.

The home is one of several in the actor’s property portfolio; however, it is understood to have served as his home base in Los Angeles, with his other homes located in Carmel and the South of France.

Pitt has not yet made a public statement about the burglary. It is not known whether he has since returned to Los Angeles following the extensive promo tour for his new movie.
