Ariarne Titmus’ multimillion-dollar fallback plan

Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus has sent shockwaves through the swimming world with her sudden retirement at just 25, but the Aussie golden girl has been building a multimillion-dollar fallback plan.

The freestyle World Record Holder has made about $250,000 in the past year alone on her purchase of an apartment in Brisbane’s exclusive city enclave of Teneriffe.

Titmus paid $1.65m for the three-bedroom property in 2022, with PropTrack data showing unit prices in the suburb were up 15 per cent over the last 12 months.

Local agents tip further capital gains as demand for Brisbane property heats up ahead of the 2032 Games.

The four-time Olympic gold medallist’s announcement has sent shockwaves through the sporting world

The four-time Olympic gold medallist announced Thursday she was officially retiring after being out of the pool since the Paris Games in 2024, where she took home gold in the 400m freestyle.

She revealed the shock turn on social media platforms, hinting at new developments in her personal life.

“I’ve taken this time away from the sport and realised some things in my life that have always been important to me and just a little bit more important to me now than swimming and that’s okay,” Titmus said.

Titmus spoke of the emotional fallout that came following surgery to remove a tumor in her ovary prior to Paris.

“It really rocked me, mentally, it probably was the first time where I considered some things outside of swimming.

“I’m excited for what’s next, I’m excited that I now have this opportunity to really delve into life and other things that I’m wanting to chase.”

The champ is already well-placed to make waves in the property arena, with her parents, newsreader Stephen Titmus and wife Robyn, also actively trading real estate.

The couple has listed an apartment in Main Beach on the Gold Coast, priced to sell at $998,000.
