Andrew Bogut’s incredible shrinking empire

The once expansive empire of Aussie basketball legend and NBL coach Andrew Bogut is being cut down to size.

NBA Hall of Famer Andrew Bogut and wife Jessica continue to rejig their expansive property portfolio following his decision join the Sydney Kings as an assistant coach for the 2026 NBL season.

Their latest listing is a 56ha farm with restored century-old farmhouse at Zara, inland in the NSW Tweed district. It comes with an architecturally striking, eco-conscious home made from hempcrete, timber and glass with three distinct pavilions.

There is also a solar-powered yurt with views of Bald Mountain and dedicated koala corridors. It comes with a Manuka honey plantation.

It is being marketed as a “visionary estate where nature, sustainability and refined living converge” by Grant Dale and Peter Kakos from The Agency who have issued a $4.5m to $4.9m guidance.

It was having announced his retirement from the Kings that the couple quit their inner-west Concord abode for their tree and sea-change.

The Concord house – with high ceilings just perfect for the 213cm (seven-foot) champion – sold in 2021 for $4.1m. They had bought the six-bedroom brick bungalow with extension in 2018 for $3.5m when he signed a two-year deal to play for the Kings.

The Boguts initially headed to a $4.45m home at Currumbin home in South-East Queensland.

They recently pocketed $7.13m for the HIA award-winning Paul Uhlmann-designed home overlooking Currumbin Estuary.

The three-level, seven-bedroom home became a popular holiday rental, fetching about $5000 a week after they relocated to their 6700sq m Mudgeeraba acreage, which cost $6.45m in 2021. Born and raised in Melbourne’s outer southeast, Bogut, 40, is one of Australia’s most decorated basketballers, being the top pick in the 2005 NBA draft, when selected by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Bogut played 682 games in 14 seasons in the NBA with the Bucks, Warriors, Mavericks and Cavaliers.

He owns a 10 per cent stake in the Kings, who have their season tip-off in late September.

“Being away from the game for five years, the itch to get back on the court was growing stronger with time,” Bogut said.
