AFL gun Lachie Fogarty’s family home for sale in Melb’s west

Carlton’s Lachie Fogarty grew up at 12 Eliza Close, Williamstown North. Apart from when he played at Geelong, he lived at the family home until about 12 months ago.

Carlton small forward Lachie Fogarty’s Williamstown North family home has hit the market with a $1.8m-$1.95m range.

Fogarty’s memories of the five-bedroom house at 12 Eliza Close, owned by his parents Terry and Tracey, include swimming in the backyard pool with his cousins and having barbecues in the outdoor undercover kitchen with his friends.

“Once I hit high school, I would often have mates over and we get the barbecue going and just cooking up sausages, when you’re about 15, 16 that was always good fun,” he said.

The 26-year-old, who grew up playing for Spotswood and spent time at Geelong before signing with the Blues, said the spa was also ideal for recovery sessions.

His mother and father are downsizing from the abode featuring a double garage and gym, plus an open-plan indoor kitchen fitted with stone surfaces, an island bench, subway-style tiled splashbacks and a walk-in pantry.

Fogarty said his parents, who are now downsizing, had renovated the kitchen and bathrooms within the past nine years or so.

He recalled playing in the quiet street with his two older brothers and local kids, as a child.

“Because it’s a dead-end street, so not many cars actually come down it,” he said.

“So we’d spend most days at the front of the house, whether it was playing cricket, basketball or footy, so they’re probably some of my best memories.”

The friendly neighbourhood and community feel are among his other cherished memories.

Beyond the landscaped front yard, the residence has formal and informal dining and entertaining areas.

There’s a guest bedroom on the ground floor, while upstairs contains four bedrooms, a central bathroom and retreat.

The main bedroom showcases a bay window, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.

Jellis Craig’s Anthony Christakakis said the home had attracted interest from family buyers.

“I think coming into summer, the swimming pool set-up and the alfresco entertainment area with a built-in barbecue is pretty appealing,” Mr Christakakis said

“A home with five bedrooms is something that doesn’t pop up in the Williamstown area too often.”

The house is close to several schools, KC White Reserve and the Altona Miniature Railway.

“If you’ve got kids, there’s the Jawbone Marine Sanctuary across the road on Kororoit Creek Rd, as well as a nice walking track to Williamstown beach,” Mr Christakakis said.

“If have a look on Google Maps, you’ll see the Bay Trail there which is a really nice walk to Willy beach.”

The house will be auctioned at 2pm on November 22.
