Positioned in the lee of the iconic Cape Byron Lighthouse, this private sanctuary is one of the privileged few to overlook exclusive Wategos Beach,” the listing for the home reads.

According to reports regional media mogul Catalano, who has an interest in the up-market Raes Hotel on Wategos beach and is executive chairman and co-owner of Australian Community Media, was in involved in an alleged beachside altercation with D’Ercole.

According to the Australian Financial Review, Catalano was sitting at the coffee cart outside Raes Hotel at around 7.45am on February 26 when he was approached by D’Ercole.

“Police have been told an altercation took place with members of the public intervening to separate the men with [Mr D’Ercole] leaving the scene,” a spokeswoman said in a statement at the time.

According to the Daily Mail, police have closed an investigation into the incident without pressing charges.

Perfect for summer.

Plans put forward by Catalano for a proposed $55m home at Wategos, which would have been the area’s most expensive, have been rejected by Byron Shire Council on the basis they were unsuitable for the 4.230 block due to their “bulk scale”.

D’Ercole has created custom jewellery pieces for rock stars including Alice Cooper, Michael Hutchence and Chrissy Amphlett.

The home he has listed for sale sits next door to Catalano’s property, below Cape Byron Lighthouse.
