$120m coastal unit hotspot tops out construction of 69-home building

A Gold Coast apartment complex valued at $120 million has topped out its construction, with builders beginning work on the interiors of its 69 coastal units.

Villea Palm Beach, developed by Abadeen and built by Emicon, sits between Burleigh Heads and Currumbin: a 400-metre walk away from the beach the project is named after.

35 of its two and three-bedroom units have already been sold, ranging from the early to mid $1m range for two-bedroom apartments and the early to mid $2m range for its three-bedroom options.

Abadeen CEO Joe Tack said the project had seen a positive response so far, with buyers such as downsizers gravitating to their selection of easy-access amenities.

“We’ve seen most of the product be owner-occupiers, predominantly local,” he said. “We’ve had some Sydney and Melbourne buyers as well; we’re seeing that in a bit more of a recent trend.”

The project’s design was led by architecture firm BDA. Each of the building’s apartments will offer premium finishes such as timber flooring and an open plan design, with many also providing ocean or north-facing views.

Each homeowner will have access to several shared amenities within the complex, including a resort-style pool, gym and outdoor entertaining spaces.

The ground floor will also feature a curated mix of retail facilities, accessible to both residents and the public.

It is understood possible venues being considered include a hairdresser, deli cafe, wine bar, bottle shop and pilates studio.

Marketing for the project is being led by SRQ. Director Nick Clydsdale said the next sales campaign would involve a greater focus on the three-bedroom apartments, which had so far been bought by young couples and some first home buyers.

“We find buyers really appreciate it’s not on the highway and you’ll have northern views forever, looking at the iconic Burleigh headland,” he said.

Mr Tack said the company’s next goal was to bring forward prototype display apartments for the site, and was considering future projects in the same area.

“It’s harder to get projects off the ground [in 2025],” he said, in reference to the Gold Coast. “We want to try and use our experience here to do something of a similar scale.”

Construction is set to finish in 2026, with residents able to move in by Q1 of 2027.
